"Is your phone charged?" These are my husbands usual last words to me before I go anywhere, other than I love you. From experience (and much frustration), he would tell you that many times he has placed a call to me and I haven't answered because my phone's been dead.
Since I'm trying to get better about this, I'm making it a point to charge up my phone daily. I've noticed that if I use my phone to go on the internet, my kids are playing games on it, or a lot of apps are open, the phone loses its juice quicker.
Of course, I've had to learn the hard way. The other night I drove Michael to soccer practice. It's not something I usually do, but due to conflicting soccer schedules for my boys, I ended up on duty that night. It was a beautiful night in Miami, as are many of the nights during this time of year. I sat in the car with the windows open taking in the cool breeze. Ahhh..all alone with the baby sound asleep in her car seat. What.a.rare.moment. I began to do what I usually do when I get a chance, update and mess with my endless to do list.
Well, time flew by and before I knew it Michael was heading towards the car. I turned the car key and all I heard was tick..tick..tick. Do you know what I'm talking about? The sound that will send any woman's heart- who hasn't the slightest clue of car anatomy- pounding out of her chest.
My car battery was dead! Thankfully, my phone was charged, I called Carl, and he went to bail me out.
Carl, ever so sweetly, began interrogating me to get to the bottom of why the car had mysteriously given out. It only took one or two question to figure out what had happened. I turned on the radio, had the phone on the charger and totally disregarded the fact that the car was not completely on. Just like when I have too many apps open on the phone, I had too many connections draining the car battery and nothing sustaining it. (Factually, I know this is a no-no, but I wasn't paying attention. The cool breeze and long desired stillness had gotten the best of me.)
I learned my lesson that night and found a "spiritual connection" in it, as well. Our days are full of activities and information that deplete us from the energy we need in order to thrive at maximum capacity. Life is draining and if we don't take the time to connect to The Source, then we'll end up running low.
Philippians 4:19
And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
So, although, you might be good about charging your phone and maintaining the life of your car battery, maybe you feel drained. Visit my next post for warning signs of a low charge and ways to make the connection.
How's your charge looking today?
Hebrews 5:7-10
During the days of Jesus’ life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with fervent cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission. Son though he was, he learned obedience from what he suffered and, once made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him and was designated by God to be high priest in the order of Melchizedek.
Solo Deo Gloria
The past few days have been all about recharging over here, too. I've long neglected my Sabbath and so on Tuesday, I took one. I still feel like I'm low on power, but not as empty as I was. I think I might need a few more days off! Good to see you at SDG!
ReplyDeleteWe live in a fast-paced world with so many things pulling for our attention, its easy to become drained. Glad you got some rest! Thanks for having me at SDG!
DeleteToday, I feel drained. As you say...there are a lot of apps open. I need to refuel with Jesus. Thank you for the reminder.
